19th Swiss Geoscience Meeting 2021 Geneva
The 19th edition of the Swiss Geoscience Meeting focused on the latest advances in research in geosciences. It was held online on 19 & 20 November 2021.
The Section of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Geneva and the Platform Geosciences of the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT) welcomed 997 participants in the 19th Swiss Geoscience Meeting that had to be held online again because of the Covid-19 pandemic situation.
On Friday, 19 November :
At the 2021 SGM plenary session entitled Climate, Resources and Environment: conflicts, synergies & compromises prominent national and international scientists, who have been actively working and contributed to the understanding of ‘System Earth’ as a whole, shared their views on aspects ranging from climate science, energy transition and impact on ecosystems and society.
The plenary session included a number of presentations, extensive discussion and open debate facilitated by Pascaline Minet, a well-known journalist who helped unravel these fascinating topics.
On Saturday, 20 November:
A total of 408 presentations (240 talks and 168 posters) were presented in 22 scientific symposia covering the diverse spectrum of current research in geosciences, encompassing the lithosphere, the hydrosphere, the cryosphere, the biosphere, the atmosphere and the anthroposphere.
