GEODES
GEODES stands for GEOscience Diversity and Equality in Switzerland.
The initiative to form a group that furthers gender equality, diversity and inclusion in swiss geosciences started as a grassroot initiative during the 17th Swiss Geoscience Meeting (SGM) in 2019 and GEODES was officially launched in 2020.
Since 2020, the GEODES committee organises a workshop during the first day of the SGM. The first two workshops were held online and the conferences recordings are available on the GEODES website. The website also contains many tips and resources to explore the different aspects of diversity and equality like for instance (unconcious) bias.

The Platform Geoscience supports GEODES with human and financial resources and in 2019 mandated Francesca Piccoli (university of Bern) and Giulia Guidobaldi (ETHZ) to write a report on the evolution of SGM attendance from 2003 to 2019 in terms of gender distribution. This report was published in 2021 in the Swiss Journal Of Geosciences.
