Call for nomination: Swiss NC IUGG Early Career Prize of interdisciplinary research

The Swiss NC IUGG Early Career Prize is awarded every year to a recent graduate or PhD researcher in Switzerland for research displaying a strong multi-disciplinary component covering aspects of two or more disciplines represented by the scientific associations of the IUGG (i.e., IACS cryosphere, IAG geodesy, IAGA geomagnetism and aeronomy, IAHS hydrology, IAMAS meteorology and atmospheric sciences, IAPSO oceanography, IAVCEI volcanology).

The Swiss National Committee of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (NC IUGG), with support from the Swiss Academy of Sciences (SCNAT), is proud to offer an Early Career prize for interdisciplinary research conducted at a Swiss institution.

The Swiss NC IUGG Early Career Prize will be awarded at the SGM in 2026, alongside a cash prize of CHF 1000.

Eligible candidates must have completed their MSc between 01.09.2024 and 31.08.2026 at a Swiss institution, or be currently enrolled as a PhD student in a Swiss institution. Their research should display a strong multi-disciplinary component covering aspects of two or more disciplines represented by the scientific associations of the IUGG (i.e., IACS cryosphere, IAG geodesy, IAGA geomagnetism and aeronomy, IAHS hydrology, IAMAS meteorology and atmospheric sciences, IAPSO oceanography, IAVCEI volcanology).

The nomination package should include a support letter from either the MSc or PhD advisor, a 1-page CV, and a PDF of the master thesis or an accepted or published paper that documents the multi-disciplinary research.
